“I’ve been smoking bowls for how long?” I thought to myself as I opened my very first weed vape. Vaping cannabis has exploded into the mainstream within the past few years or so and I knew sooner or later that I would cave. This would be my first time vaporizing cannabis and I had chosen the Vivant VLeaf, pen style dry herb vaporizer. Being that I already buy flower, I thought using a dry herb vaporizer would be simplest. After a successful first time vaporizing, here are all my thoughts - likes, dislikes, and everything in between.
Experience with the vaporizer
For my first time using a vaporizer, the VLeaf vaporizer could not have been easier to use. The directions were, of course, very helpful and straight forward, but it was quick to learn the different button combinations. I was surprised by how slim the vaporizer itself was and that it was pretty lightweight. All together, the VLeaf is very simple to start using straight out of the box. You pop off the top, throw it some flower, throw the top back on and it’s good to go. It also comes with a nice little sleeve so that your hand doesn’t get too warm holding the vape.
I have to say vaporizing has been a game changer for me. If I have to narrow my positives down to a top three, here they are: I enjoy how portable it is, I love that I barely cough, and I like how I can control the temperature.
Being able to bring a vaporizer anywhere has been a great experience. I used to have to bring a bunch of supplies if I wanted to smoke in a public space. Now all I need my vaporizer and I'm good to go. So far I've had the enjoyment of vaporizing in my car, in the grocery store parking lot, at the park, on the rooftop, and even after work. As mentioned above, I also like the size of the vaporizer and how easily it can slip into your pocket or bag when you're on the go.
One of the things I hate about smoking is how frequently I cough. When it comes to smoking flower, I usually cough about 50% of the time. Luckily, with the vaporizer I rarely cough. The vapor is very smooth and not harsh at all on my throat. For someone like me who is new to vaporizing, this is definitely a positive. A bad coughing session can lead to a raw throat and an uneasy feeling in my stomach most of the time, but with vapor it is almost non existent.
Finally, I love that I can control the temperature and pretty much customize my highs. The first time I used the VLeaf I noticed immediately that the taste was different and my high was a bit more head focused. The second time I used the vaporizer I changed the temperature and had a whole different high - more body focused.
Like most first time experiences, there will also be some negatives. I honestly did not have many, except one: sometimes I had to pull real hard to get anything. As opposed to bowls or bongs that create smoke very quickly, the VLeaf did not perform in that department. I felt myself really having to take long inhales to get a nice hit.
Overall, for my first time using a vaporizer I was pleased. I’ve continued to use it during my runs to the store or just a nice walk around town. I can’t say that I’ll entirely stop smoking flower, though, and that’s just because of my personal preference. Although, I am eager to see how other vaporizers out there perform.
